Camping: The jam takes place in an urban area and there is no place to camp in Berkeley. However, if you are willing to commute by car, there's a lovely campground in the redwoods at Anthony Chabot Regional Park in the Oakland hills. Chabot campground has bathrooms with hot showers, picnic tables and a lake for swimming. Sites are $22 per night and can sleep up to 8 people. There are also group sites available. Reservations can be made here.

Some of the other gorgeous camping grounds in the Bay Area are Kirby Cove in Sausalito and China Camp Beach in San Rafael.

Couch Surfing is a great resource for finding places to stay and meeting interesting people.

Air BnB is a good resource for finding bed and breakfasts and other unique housing options.
