Class Description

In this class we will start with warming up to the space, bringing awareness to our bodies in relation to the space (solo). Afterwards I will have several groups divided by physical skill sets or talents (movers & shakers, flyers & bassist, musicians, & mischief makers). Each group will be lead by most experienced in the group to work on various exercises & task to help build, find, or improve those talents and skill sets as a group. Then groups will interact with each other eventually coming together organically as a collective.

Biography

Cheyenne "Amen" Dunbar is a Boxing and Muay Thai coach, Capoeira Angola A-kuolua (teacher), and Escrima y Machete practitioner (Afro-Colombian fencing), as well as an accomplished performing artist. With decades of experience, he holds a black belt in Kung Fu San Soo, has studied Taijiquan and Ba Gua, and brings roots in wrestling, boxing, and professional Muay Thai training. A singer and performer since age 8, Cheyenne developed his voice beginning with the Brooklyn Boy’s Choir. After surviving a severe concussion at 27, he began a lifelong study of movement, discovering Contact Improv and becoming a sought-after teacher. His purpose is to support his community in self-expression, self-protection, and healthy living—something he believes is a human responsibility more than a lifestyle.
