Contemplative Dance Practice

Developed by Barbara Dilley, Contemplative Dance Practice blends solo and relational practices for exploring how attention and awareness unfold in and through the body.

This 60 minute CDP practice will include three sections:

- 20 minutes Seated Meditation Practice –  In which we arrive into stillness and present-moment awareness.

- 20 minutes Solo Movement Practice –  In which we move intuitively, following internal impulses without judgment.

- 20 minutes Relational Movement Practice – A shared, nonverbal improvisational space where we engage with movement while attuning to the group and environment.

There will be light practice suggestions and guidance throughout. All dancers, movers and meditators welcome.

Nick Smith is a dancer, meditator and silly goose. He enjoys encouraging and practicing fun, caring, kindness, gentleness and (where appropriate) wildness through practices centered on community, healing and how we relate to our own attention.
