Kathleen Rea who has been studying the Axis Syllabus for the past seven years (teacher candidate) will lead a workshop that plays with waves of force transmission and how they can help us to lift and be lifted with greater ease. The workshop will begin with a brief anatomy demonstration and then will move into experiential learning. There will be time at the end to integrate learning into jamming.
Biography:
Kathleen Rea has danced with Canada’s Ballet Jorgen, National Ballet of Canada, and Tiroler Landestheater (Austria). She has choreographed over 40 dance works and been nominated for five DORA awards. Kathleen is a recipient of a K.M. Hunter Choreographic Award and is a published author (The Healing Dance, Charles C. Thomas, 2012). She has a Master’s in Expressive Arts through the Create Institute and the European Graduate School and teaches Contact Improvisation at George Brown College. Kathleen is a teacher candidate of the Axis Syllabus and has been researching functional movement for the past seven years. She is the director of REAson d’etre dance productions, which produces jams, workshops, dance-theatre productions, films and the Contact Dance International Film Festival.
